Searching for a cool store that specializes in just reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates? Look no farther than The Reptile Shop in Temecula, Calif. Founders Kyle Frost and Rory Gresco opened their business in 2008, and it has since grown into a 1,700-square-foot facility, which houses all of their many breeding projects.
After recognizing the need for a quality reptile store in their area, Frost and Gresco set about making their location the ideal spot for all things herp.
"Our store is unique in that we only deal in U.S. captive-bred-and-born reptiles, most of which are bred in the store," Frost said. "We pride ourselves in the quality of our animals and expertise in reptile husbandry."
Those high standards also extend to customer support and matching the right reptile with the right customer. In the past, when faced with a potential pet owner they did not feel was ready to provide a desired reptile with its required care, they have refused the sale. In fact, both Frost and Gresco feel strongly about maintaining those standards and seeing them reflected in the rest of the industry.
"I think the standards for animal health and good information in pet shops have increased over the years, just not as quickly as I would have hoped," Frost said.
