The Fort McMurray fire displaced a lot of families, many of whom had pets. For those who had to abandon their animals or were unable to return home due to the fire, some folks took it upon themselves to save animals. While many of the animals have found their way back to their owners, a lot have not, and are now at the Edmonton Humane Society. This includes many reptiles, among the furry pets.

A look at the society’s website reveals many herps having arrived at the same time the fire was raging in Fort McMurray. Bearded dragons, ball pythons, leopard geckos, turtles, and other reptiles are at the Edmonton Humane Society waiting for their owners to claim them. If they are not claimed they will be put up for adoption. Many of the animals were found in the Wood Buffalo regional municipality.
