Tiger Snake Gets Caught in Mouse Trap

A man in Australia got a surprise when he checked a mouse trap that he had set for mice, and found a venomous tiger snake (Notechis scutatus) had gotten caught in the trap.
"I came home from work at about 5 p.m., had a coffee and had a look at a few things on the Internet and as I was sitting there I just heard the mouse-trap go snap," Anthony Parker told the Esperance Express. "I turned around, had a quick look and literally jumped off my stool because there was a snake about 3 meters [10 feet] away from me in the mouse trap. It was just trying to escape by trying to bite the trap off I think. I think it may have thought the trap was alive trying to get it," Parker said.
This poor tiger snake got caught in a mouse trap.
It is unsure if there was a mouse in the trap and the snake was going after the mouse, but the man, who says he doesn’t usually kill snakes, killed this one because there was a small child in the house.
Snakes have been known to eat mice stuck in mouse traps. In North Carolina, a woman who sets mouse traps around her house found a black rat snake in her garden with one of her traps in its belly. That snake was taken to the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where the trap was successfully removed from the snake’s stomach.
