The snake is a boa constrictor, but is the photo real?

James told the paper that he snapped the photo of the encounter at mile marker 63 on Alligator Alley at a rest stop. He said he was walking down a trail with his wife and baby when he heard a disturbance in the shrubs. He told the paper that he expected to see a wild hog but was surprised when he apparently came across what he thought was a Burmese python around the neck of a coyote. The coyote was trying to get the snake off and the snake then released it, and according to James, bit the coyote on the back just as his wife demanded that they return to the car.

The photo was sent to University of Florida wildlife biologist Frank Mazzotti who identified the snake in the photo as a boa constrictor but couldn’t vouch for the authenticity of the photograph. So what do you think? Let us know in the comments.
