Three Common Ailments Of Tortoises In Captivity

The tortoise, named Lola went straight to the x-ray and the technicians were surprised to find that the chelonian had swallowed a sea turtle charm. Dr. Don Harris told CBS Miami that he first thought the technicians were playing a joke on him when they said that Lola had swallowed the charm, but when he looked at the x-ray he was apparently just as shocked as the techs.

Dr. Harris prescribed treating the tortoise with enemas in laxatives in hopes the 10-year old tortoise will pass the charm on her own. If that course of treatment doesn’t work, then Lola would be sent to Keys Turtle Hospital for surgery.
