Steve Irwin’s Family To Return To Animal Planet
October 24, 2017
When Steve Irwin died in 2006, a gaping hole was left in the reptile world. Many reptile (and animal) lovers grew up watching Crocodile Hunter, as Irwin brought them along on his expeditions.
The show was put on hiatus as Irwin’s wife, Terri, raised her two children and oversaw the Australia Zoo. Well, the Irwin family announced they are going to make a return to Animal Planet next year with new projects.
“We’re excited to be returning home to Animal Planet and our Discovery Communications family,” Terri Irwin said in a statement. “We look forward to the year ahead as we embark on new projects and adventures with Animal Planet.”

The format of the show has not yet been revealed, but Patrice Andrews, Animal Planet’s general manager said their return is part of a larger initiative by the network to refocus its content on wildlife and introduce folks like Steve Irwin who people enjoyed watching.
“Steve Irwin was a champion for all wildlife and he and Terri’s excitement and enthusiasm brought viewers from around the world in touch with nature,” Andrews said in a statement. “Their passion for animals, love for their family, and leadership in conversation awareness left a strong legacy that continues today. We are thrilled to have Terri, Bindi and Robert back in the Animal Planet family.”
Crikey! Steve's family will soon be back to carry on the Crocodile Hunter's legacy.
