Snake Spotted On Mars?

Is it plausible that reptiles inhabit Mars? Did Captain Kirk battle a Gorn? UFOSightingsDaily.com discovered what looks like a snake crawling from under a rock. It appeared to be moving up a rock ledge. The website speculates that the snake is about half a meter in length.

Given the seeming lack of vegetation in this photo of Mars, what kind of snake do you think could live in the area in which the photograph was taken? A desert species perhaps?
