Pet Boa Constrictor Missing In Minnesota

Rocky, a 5-foot boa constrictor escaped its enclosure September 6 in Princeton, MN and still hasn’t been found. Princeton Police Chief Todd Frederick told 5 ABC Eyewitness news for the public to use caution if they spot the reptile.

Frederick said Rocky’s owner told him that the snake is extremely docile. Authorities have searched a two to three block area around the owner’s residence to no avail. If anyone spots the snake they are urged to call the police. Here are the numbers: County dispatch, 320-983-8257; animal control, 320-492-5865 or call 911.

“However due to the cooler temps-he may not be doing well or could possibly be deceased.... If this is the case-his owner would still like closure,” Mille Lacs County Animal Control wrote on its Facebook page.

Boa constrictors are one of the most popular constricting snakes in the hobby with females usually reach about 6 to 8 feet in length. Males are smaller. They live about 20 to 30 years in captivity and need large enclosures.
